Wood logs? Let's show them!

4 ideas to create a niche for wood

When there is a fireplace or a wood-burning stove, there is usually a place to store the wood, like a woodshed, and a place to keep logs inside, within easy reach, for daily use. Nowadays, an indoor storage area for wood has become an interior design element that can adapt to any kind of style.

Okay, it might create a little dust and attract a few spiders, but wood stored in the living room gives us the scent of the wood and all the nuances of a natural material par excellence.

In this article I chose some ideas to integrate a wood storage compartment into the wall. Check out also our board on Pinterest, where you can find lots of other ideas! Tell us which one is your favourite or send us your ideas. We'll be happy to see them!

1. EFFECTS WITH FULL AND EMPTY SPACES

If the fire is inside a wall bookshelf unit, I really like the idea of creating a wood compartment in the same size as the one for the fireplace. This creates a well-balanced effect of full and empty spaces that appeals to me.

2. THE SHELF

Devoting the area underneath the top of the mantelpiece to storing wood, with a projecting solution, is a rather popular choice and definitely one with great impact. Here are an example.

3. THE VERTICAL "CUT"

The vertical cut of the area to contain the wood is very spectacular, though perhaps not very practical. It can be created on either the front or side.

4. THE CLADDING WITH BUILT-IN WOOD STORAGE

I personally love it when the frame of the fireplace cladding itself is designed so that it contains an area to store wood. It gives me a feeling of completeness, something truly “finished”. Here are two examples from claddings sold in the MCZ catalogue.
