“A living room is not complete without a fireplace”: this was the client’s diktat. The sales manager of a well-known multinational, he is accustomed to travelling around countries where fireplaces are a cult.

The fireplace was almost mandatory in the total make-over of a rather anonymous part of the living area, but the family wasn’t at all keen on having to clean the hearth frequently, or on having to purchase and store fire-wood or pellets. The choice fell on a gas-burning fireplace: the ideal solution, in terms of both user-friendliness and high yield/performance. Centre-piece of the room, the fireplace (the model is Forma 95 Gas of MCZ) was incorporated into the bookcase-partition wall, next to the TV, and insulated with a sheet of Cor-ten steel.

Corten is an interesting material from the point of view of heat resistance and for its unusual burnished colour. Architect Alessandra Turchet used it also for a practical customised entrance console.

An alternative product to the made-to-measure solution with fireplace and TV screen can be Scenario, a wood-burning or gas-burning fireplace which includes a plasma screen branded Loewe, perfectly integrated.

Studio 32 A
